Blizzard entertainment has stated that you can use models for fair use, (ill have to find where it said it) as long as your not making money off of them. We would never put things in our game without consent.

I just wouldnt understand why a large company who earns alot of money would give away their content for free as this would they would possibly loose players ect. 'Fair use' would be usually personal use not creating a game with most of their models. Surely without explict permisssion you would not be allowed. Just my thoughts on this.

If explicit permission was required I think a lot of servers would be in big trouble by now. Just saying o-o (I feel like I sounded rude here)
(Not sure how many servers have the wow content. I know that there is a wow converter floating around on kito)

I dunno. I dont think even if 100 people have used the models it gives anyone the right to use them. They just might not have been seen by blizzard entertainment so have not been brought up. Still believe permission would be required -shrugs-

I'm going to have one more say in it.
As glacia said, blizzard publicly said that the models could be uses as long as they're not sold. That is basically the permission we have. I am currently trying to find the source of blizzard's words. We do know that glacia would never steal. Once again, the problem is being looked into. When I find the source I'll link it here.

It states 'personal use' the direct definition of this being (belonging to or affecting a particular person rather than anyone else) so by sharing this in a game it is not personal what so ever as you are using it to gain an audience which they have not allowed, they have said you can use it on your own computers for your own enjoyment not publically

Ok, we are in the process of contacting Wow themselves. Please be aware we are not trying to steal anything. Kito has had them free to download for the longest time.

Okay, i still think the sources should have been checked before hand. Kito doesnt own them so its not up to them to have them to download

"You can use these models for personal usage and not for the purpose of sale. It fits under their 'Total Conversion' license." www.kitopen.com/t149-kito-s-fixed-wow-model-exporter-to-ogreI really don't think that this was an appropriate form of contact for the situation. My suggestion would be to lock the topic from public response.
